Gestalt Therapy

“Gestalt – what’s that?”

Gestalt therapy is a humanistic, experiential psychotherapeutic approach. It supports people in becoming more aware of themselves, understanding inner connections, and developing new possibilities for action. The central question is not “Why am I like this?”, but rather “What am I experiencing right now?”

Gestalt therapy assumes that change becomes possible when people are able to perceive and accept themselves as they are. This process takes place in the Here and Now – in the immediate experience of feelings, thoughts, bodily sensations, and in contact with others.
Gestalt therapy accompanies your inner process at your own pace. It does not offer quick fixes, but rather the time and space you need for your individual process.

Become,
who you are

The aim of Gestalt therapy is not to reshape people or even to “repair” them. Its aim is to support people in their process of becoming who they are, and to experience long-term and sustainable processes of change through appreciative self-acceptance.

Gestalt therapy follows the attitude: change arises from acceptance – not from adaptation.

Principles of Gestalt Therapy

In the here and now

Gestalt therapy focuses on present experience. Past experiences or concerns about the future are included insofar as they show themselves in the present moment – for example in feelings, bodily reactions, or relational patterns.

Awareness

At the core is the cultivation of awareness: What do I perceive right now? What am I feeling, thinking, sensing in my body? Awareness is understood as a prerequisite for choice and change.

Contact

Change arises through contact – with oneself and with others. The therapeutic relationship is not a neutral setting, but a living space of encounter in which experiences become visible and tangible.

Self-responsibility

Gestalt therapy strengthens the capacity to take responsibility for one’s own experience, feelings and actions – not in terms of blame, but in the sense of inner clarity and self-efficacy.

Wholeness

The human being is understood as an integrated whole of body, emotion, thought and social context. Bodily sensations are just as significant as thoughts or emotions.

Acceptance

Gestalt therapy does not work with the aim of “correcting” people. Paradoxically, change often arises when “what is” can be acknowledged and accepted.

Experiment and experience

New insights do not emerge through conversation alone, but through experience. Gestalt therapy uses experiments, small exercises or shifts in perspective to make new experiences possible within a safe framework.

My offer

I work empathically, with care and professionalism, and provide a protected setting for your personal process. In the sessions, we take time to clarify current concerns, explore inner connections, and consciously perceive experiences in the here and now. In this way, new possibilities for action can emerge and a deeper understanding of your own becoming can grow.

Before therapy begins, an initial consultation takes place. This serves as a mutual introduction and offers space to clarify concerns, expectations and the therapeutic framework together.
